About

National Service Scheme (NSS), formally launched on 24th September, 1969 is a programme of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports based on the philosophy of Mahatma Gandhi that the students should dedicate themselves in the service of the society. The cardinal principle of the programme is that it is organised by the students themselves and both students and teachers through their combined participation in social service, get a sense of involvement in the tasks of national development.

About

The overall aim of NSS is “personality development through community service”. The University of Kerala sanctioned a NSS unit to our college in 2018. Appreciating its outstanding performances in both the regular activities and special camping programme, the University sanctioned one more unit in 2020.

Motto

The Motto of NSS "Not Me But You", reflects the essence of democratic living and upholds the need for self-less service. NSS helps the students development & appreciation to other person's point of view and also show consideration towards other living beings. The welfare of an individual is ultimately dependent on the welfare of the society as a whole and therefore, the NSS volunteers shall strive for the well-being of the society.

ACTIVITIES

Regular NSS Activity

Undertake various programmes in the adopted villages and college campus during weekends or after college hours

Special Camping Programme

Special Camps of 7 days duration are organised in adopted villages or urban slums during vacations with some specific projects by involving local communities. 50% NSS volunteers participate in these camps. Besides, the volunteers have opportunities to participate in the intercollegiate, university, national and international level programmes and competitions.
